Is techspot a safe place to download files from

My download did not start and I wasted several minutes going through the setup process for a program that I did not get but installed something else instead. I believe it is a download manager which I will uninstall after I finish this message. I am very disappointed and angry with TeschSpot as I have enjoyed it for a couple years as a member.

I hope this is not the avenue they are going to go down or should I say slippery slope. Useful info and friendly site. Comprehensive knowledge of technology and computers.
